Words By Mike Emerson

This week sees the Manchester return of Obaro Ejimiwe, as he graces the stage over at Gorilla in support of his new album, ‘Some Say I So I Say Light’. The reviews are coming in thick and fast for the follow up to his mercury prize nomination ‘Peanut butter blues and Melancholy Jam’, and the new album sounds bloody brilliant.

He claims to merely ‘mumble over quirky sounds’, yet in truth he’s a storyteller of the highest order. He sounds somewhat like a fusion of alternative hip hop and garage, with the authenticity of the late Gil Scott & the honesty of Mike Skinner. His previous appearances in our city have been nothing short of mesmerising, and with this Now Wave show sure to sell out in the next few days, it’s in your best interests to pick up some tickets quickly.

Ghostpoet plays Gorilla on Tuesday 28th May. Support comes from Typesun & Amateur Best. You can buy advance tickets HERE
