New York DIY champions Speedy Ortiz have skipped across the Atlantic to join Cardiff five piece Joanna Gruesome on a 6 date tour across the UK, and they stop off at The Deaf Institute on Sunday.
Massachusetts’ Speedy Ortiz are set to play plenty of material off their second album released mid 2013 entitled “Major Arcana”, a noise pop record that should compliment the workings of their Welsh support act. Joanna Gruesome’s debut album “Weird Sister” dropped last September after a long wait from DIY fans across the world. Their previous tape released on ‘Reeks of Effort‘ was just the beginning of a cult following, that has now developed to the band being in high demand.
Although this is Speedy Ortiz’s first time in Manchester, we sure it won’t be their last, as the buzz generated around this band has them set up for a good year. Joanna Gruesome are no strangers to our city though, and are welcome with open arms after their show at Fuel in September got cancelled last minute due to a band illness. Boy, are we happy to have them back!
Speedy Ortiz & Joanna Gruesome will perform at The Deaf Institute on Sunday 16th February. You can buy tickets HERE.
