Alex Giannascoli, or Alex G, ‘The internet’s secret best songwriter’ comes to Soup Kitchen this Thursday. Big things are expected of the artist in 2015 after the release of his much lauded, first fully mastered, 13 track album ‘DSU’, last year. His fuzzy, DIY, low-fi aesthetic has been championed by Pavement, The Guardian and Pitchfork and has invited the well-deserved comparisons to Built to Spill, Big Star, and Elliot Smith.

The 21 year old is already pretty prolific though, he’s been generating hype and a steady stream of music on his Bandcamp for five years. His work is engaging, exciting and eclectic, referencing the best of alt rock, power pop and funk. And his song writing skills are considerable; angsty, perceptive lyrics on post adolescence problems and trials. Tickets are still on sale so catch him now, before he fully emerges from under the radar.

Alex G will perform at Soup Kitchen on Thursday 5th March. The show is being promoted by Now Wave and tickets are £7 advance and are available HERE
