Supernova Film Festival launches into the Manchester stratosphere this weekend, promising intergalactic visions, ambient soundtracks and otherworldly scenery through the lenses of directors old and new.
Combining the well-knowns and classics of Aliens, 2001: A Space Odyssey and Interstellar with newbies and relative unknowns gaining UK premieres, such as Moonwalkers and Project M, the packed schedule will take over part of The Printworks’ Odeon Manchester for the bank holiday weekend.
Fans of shorts haven’t been forgotten. The organisers, Grimm Up North, have compiled a collection of sci-fi flicks submitted by budding directors from around the globe. Get there early on Saturday to catch 90 minutes of the ones-to-watch for the future.
Renowned for their inventive screenings events held at locations as diverse as the Dancehouse to Ordsall Hall, Grimm Up North are also the brains behind RAD Films and Grimmfest.
Supernova takes place from 28-29 May, 2016.
Weekend Tickets are £25+bf, available from fatsoma.com
