The poet, innovator, thinker and hip hop whirlwind Saul Williams is set to stop at Manchester’s Band on the Wall on his 2016 headlining tour.
A fine example of his incisive wordplay is the title for his sixth record, MartyrLoserKing, a conceptual work exploring the reach of digital protest across first and third world through its titular protagonist’s Internet exploits. Released in January 2016, it tackles typically complex and hard-hitting themes, fitting paradoxically snugly against the unease of agitated, incendiary backing music.
Social justice is as high on his agenda as fear, collective movements and society in the global electronic village, and the Paris-based New Yorker Williams’ album features collaborations with musicians such as Warpaint’s Emily Kokal.
We’re delighted to be able to offer a pair of tickets for Saul Williams’ Manchester gig on Tuesday 21 June to a lucky winner. To enter, you need to be on our mailing list, so if you’re not already receiving our weekly emails with updates on Manchester’s events you need to know about, simply sign up via the form in our homepage header for your chance to win.
