Deaf Institute is nearly eight years old and we’re all invited to their party. But they’re not going to Quasar lazer tag or tenpin bowling, instead brewing a cocktail of Manchester’s finest on a bill topped by the twin peaks of Everything Everything and Dutch Uncles.
Everything Everything last performed in the city’s at the Manchester Arena for a Foals support slot and have since toured Russia and USA in a tour of Cold War hegemonic proportions. Their co-headliners Dutch Uncles have followed a similarly seismic path since treading Deaf’s stage, so it’s a rare opportunity to catch both in intimate surrounds.
As well as live sets by the pair of anthemic indie rock exports, former Silverclub frontman Duncan Jones will be airing his solo DNCN guise and Radio 6 Music’s Marc Riley leads the night’s cast of pop pickers, with the event’s soundtrack due to be compiled by the diverse record collections of So Flute, Girls On Film, You Dig? and Piccadilly Records staff.
The venue has a standout history in the city, having hosted the likes of The xx, Warpaint, Caribou and Unknown Mortal Orchestra en route to more expansive climes.
The gig will take place on Friday 12 August at Deaf Institute.
