Words by Wes Foster.
There’s not much to not like when two of the best Australian bands are brought to a tiny basement venue in Manchester as part of a double headline tour.
Both coming from Brisbane, Dune Rats are the slightly younger of the two, having formed in 2011 rather than 2008, and bring a slightly anarchic but American garage rock-influenced style of writing. It’s laidback and relaxed, whilst at the same time relentless.
DZ Deathrays, on the other hand, balance a refined rock style that is heavy and punchy whilst having riffs to create something catchy and irresistible. Their near-perfect balance is achieved through a hefty amount of distortion and noise.
