Two of the North Eastern US alt-rock titans are set to hop across the pond for UK tours early in 2017.
Kevin Devine, from the creative hotspot that is Brooklyn, NY, guides his Goddamn Band through Europe, finishing up in the UK for six dates, including Manchester’s Deaf Institute on Tuesday 31 January.
Two hours due south-west is the home of Dave Hause and the Mermaids, Philadelphia, PA, which is referenced in his forthcoming album, Bury Me In Philly (out on 3 February, 2017). The band are treading similar ground to the Goddamn Band before them, hitting Germany, Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland and Belgium ahead of an eight-date shift in the UK, from Glasgow to Brighton, calling at Manchester’s Gorilla on Tuesday 14 March.
Devine will be touring on the back of releasing Instigator in October, which picked up rave reviews across the US alt-rock blogosphere – notably Vulture Hound (4/5), Pertaining To Punk, and Highlight Magazine (4.5/5) – for its retention of his growling punk riffs and well-crafted wordplay.
Hause’s new album is due via Rise Records, and will be his third on the label (albeit the first of those, Resolutions, was also put out by London-based hardcore label Xtra Mile across Europe) since sidestepping several bands in the Philly hardcore scene to go it alone, erring closer to folky terrain.
