During a musical calendar that sees them perform in such diverse locations such as nineteenth century towers, experimental music festivals in Tokyo and village libraries in the Inner Hebrides, it’s always worth noting when Liverpudlian ensemble Ex-Easter Island Head come to town. They perform at The Deaf Institute this week, joined on their current tour by the Salford Large Electric Ensemble, comprising of performers drawn from all corners of the thriving Manchester and Salford underground.
Primarily performing as a trio since 2009, the group incorporate multiple precisely prepared electric guitars struck, struck with a collection of mallets to create works exploring interplay, repetition, minimalism and melodic invention through “purposefully limited means”. The musical collective are returning to Manchester following a hypnotic performance at Sounds From The Other City in Salford last month.
Ex-Easter Island Head perform at The Deaf Institute on Friday 23rd June. Tickets are available here.
