Mancunian indie pop outfit China Lane are set to play an exclusive charity gig on 26th July in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust, for ibis Lates on Tour. In association with London’s Roundhouse, ibis Styles Manchester Portland Hotel will be transformed into an intimate gig venue, one part of an exciting new series hosting exclusive performances from young musicians. Several free tickets are available for the show, or can be purchased with a £4.17 donation going directly to the Teenage Cancer Trust, who provide specialist care and support for young people in the UK living with cancer.
Beginning life as a duo when lead vocalists Reuben Hester and Chloë Bebbingtonare joined forces, China Lane were quickly backed by producers and instrumentalists Jack Candela and Danny Marland. Debut single in the shape of synth pop banger ‘Marco Polo‘, quickly receiving over 196,000 Spotify plays and inclusion on the “Best of Introducing” mix tape on BBC6 Music. China Lanes’ latest release, ‘In Motion’, is close to over 400,000 plays in just four months and has been highly praised by BBC Introducing Manchester, now a regular on their playlist. Listen below.
The Mancunian quartet’s synth-powered, funky-pop orientated tunes sit somewhere nicely between CHVRCHES and The 1975, and their latest single only builds on a successful 2016. If last month’s stellar performance at the Deaf Institute is anything to go by, we can look forward to another great show from the budding electro-pop group. Support for each gig is provided by some of the best emerging acts from Roundhouse’s Resident Artist programme, which offers backing and opportunities for young music and artistic talent.
China Lane perform at the ibis Styles Manchester Portland Hotel on Wednesday 26th July. Free tickets are now available here.
