Alternative spectacular Transformer is returning to the Victoria Warehouse later this year. The alt-rock festival, named in commemoration of the spirit of Lou Reed, is back for a second outing following an impressive inauguration back in May (read our review here). Bringing an “indoor festival vibe to the expansive Victoria Warehouse”, the next alternative all-dayer takes place this halloween with another superb line-up, on Saturday 28th October. First and second release tickets have already sold out, so act quick.

Headlining this time around, cult doom outfit Godspeed You! Black Emperor will be following in the footsteps of Swans’ floor-rumbling, ear drum obliterating headline set back in May. Loved for their almighty live performances, enigmatic persona and mammoth productions, the nine-piece are returning to Manchester for the first time in over two years.

Having recently announced latest album ‘TFCF’ (aka Theme From Crying Fountain), American rock outfit Liars are out on an extensive tour of the US and Europe. Though now acting as more of a solo project for frontman Angus Andrew, they’ve recently given a first taste of what’s to come from their new LP, with single ‘Cred Woes’. Listen below.

It’s tricky to briefly sum up Omar Souleyman‘s weird and wonderful career so far. The Syrian crooner allegedly has over 500 albums to his name, most of which come from his days as a wedding singer before civil war tore apart his native country in 2011. Through riotously upbeat shows, Souleyman has evolved from underground cult favourite to a big name in Western electronic circles. Don’t miss this rare chance to catch the charismatic frontman in the flesh.

A native of Australian, via Iceland, electronic wizard Ben Frost is currently out on a European tour with whispers of new music on the horizon. Frost seems to be an artist happiest on the stage, where his visceral ambient and electronic music comes to life under dramatic and hypnotic visuals. Also an accomplished TV and film composer, he has overseen the soundtracks for The Deep, Sleeping Beauty and Fortitude.

Transformer 2 will also be hosting American psychedelic rock band Bardo Pond, electronic producer Powell (responsible for THAT billboard email from Steve Albini), Icelandic record producer Valgeir Sigurdsson and Swedish producer The Field.

Also appearing at the one-day extravaganza are dark ambient duo Demdike Stare, ambient musician Sculpture, Mexican/German duo Camila Fuchs and instrumental post-punk outfit Civil Civic.

Transformer 2 takes place at Victoria Warehouse on Saturday 28th October 2017. Tickets are available here.
