We’ve been looking ahead in suspense to the scariest night of the year, but Halloween is more than just one night; it’s an entire weekend of shows, fancy dress, parties and club nights. Keeping look out for more treats than tricks, we’ve prepared a guide of what’s on in the city over the Halloweekend, so read on, if you dare…

Friday 27th: Ultimate Power – Bat Out of Helloween (The Ritz), The 90s Haunted House Party (The Ruby Lounge), You Dig? Halloween Special! (Deaf Institute)

// The Deaf Institute are getting both funky and spooky in equal measure with a special edition of You Dig?, joined by Deadbeat Brass for some stellar disco and funk renditions. Power ballad extravaganza Ultimate Power returns with a Halloween special at The Ritz, while The Ruby Lounge invites you for a trip down memory lane as we enter the 90s Haunted House Party, and there’s a free shot waiting for the first 100 people in fancy dress…

Saturday 28th: IllumiNaughty Presents : Underworld (Bowlers Exhibition Centre) A Heavy Halloween… (The Ruby Lounge), The Dog House – A Nightmare On High Street 3 Halloween Special (The Ruby Lounge), Sanction Halloween With Arun Verone (Gorilla), Girls On Film – Back To Life Halloween Party (Deaf Institute), Hidden Halloween (Hidden)

// We’re back at The Ruby Lounge from 6pm for a tribute night to Megadeath and Rage Against The Machine, followed by the ghastly ‘A Nightmare on High Street 3′, with music ’til the early hours, prizes for best fancy dress outfits and ‘Spooky Cocktails’, whatever that means. Deaf Institute are also back open for a ghoulish edition of Girls On Film, inviting revellers to come dressed as favourite dead pop culture icon and Hidden will be hosting their own spooky spectacular.

This brings us to perhaps the biggest event on the Halloween calendar: IllumiNaughty’s Underworld special. Expect to see Bowlers Exhibition Centre transformed into six fully themed arenas, with bumper cars, an outdoor funfair, 3D mapped stage designs, live art exhibition, a plethora of performers, Thunderdome, food court, fire & pyrotechnics and of course, full fancy dress.

Sunday 29th: Hip Hop Halloween (Gorilla)

// Gorilla keep the spirits high with a monstrous Hip Hop Hangover instalment, with local DJs spinning tracks from legends past and present.

Monday 30th: Ghostwatch (Gorilla)

// Safely guiding us through Mischief Night, we’re back at Gorilla, where they host a special 25th anniversary screening of iconic 90s show Ghostwatch. The show, famous for mentally scarring viewers with the malevolent, misbehaved poltergeist ‘Pipes’, has never been repeated on British television, so don’t miss out!

Tuesday 31st: FLICK does Night Of The Living Dead! (Soup Kitchen), The Quiz That Came From Space: Halloween Special! (Deaf Institute)

// And so we come to the big day, unfortunately on a school night, yes, but when did that stop you? Soup Kitchen are hosting a special screening of George A. Romero classic Night Of The Living Dead. Over at Deaf, you’re invited to join them to test your knowledge on serial killers, horror films and scary music for “part quiz, part quest, part comedy” The Quiz That Came From Space.
