This festive season the UK’s biggest digital light festival will return to Salford Quays at MediaCityUK for ten days. Hosted by Quays Culture, Lightwaves is a stunning marriage of technology and art to showcase an eclectic programme of digital light art, taking over public spaces from Friday 8th December until Sunday 17th December. Watch back on some highlights from previous events festival below.

Bringing “light to those dark winter nights”, the festival will feature new and exclusively commissioned digital art displays alongside emerging talent, with workshops from local, national, and international artists on offer. With a reputation of producing groundbreaking and engaging light installations, this year you can look forward to a new large-scale interactive word sculpture by international writer Jackie Kay, new commissions from emerging talent, a dynamic waterside sculpture of light and sound by Tom Dekyvere, the return of the popular light painting workshop where you can make your own images to download, and a curated collection of Blackpool Illuminations’ much-love lights. The ten free light experiences span across Salford Quays, from the Plaza between The Lowry and the Lowry Outlet, to MediaCityUK.

Lightwaves runs from Friday 8th to Sunday 17th December 2017, from 12:00-22:30 daily and is free to attend at various locations across Salford Quays and MediaCity. For more information, visit Quays Culture or follow #Lightwaves17 on social media.
