As we bring 2017 to a close, we know there are many ways to mark the final countdown. With such an eclectic choice of venues, events and club nights in our city, the question is, where are you going to have the best possible night? Fresh from a Christmas extravaganza, power ballad devotees Ultimate Power hit The Ritz one more time for a NYE special. Impressively labelled as “the best club night in the world”, we’re expecting them to turn things up to 11 for the big night…
Soup Kitchen will be opening their doors from 10pm, kicking off upstairs with Euphony’s Diamond Dobson & 24 Karat Kenz, spinning disco, boogie, house and other weird bits they’ve got their hands on. Down in the basement, Banana Hill’s Cervo & Jack VC are taking charge of seeing in the new year with some afrobeat, jazz, neo-soul, techno and hip hop.
Gorilla take a trip down memory lane this New Year’s Eve as Back By Dope Demand invite a host of old skool legends to the stage, and Band On The Wall resident Mr Scruff six-hour session of jazz, soul, hip hop, funk, disco, reggae, afrobeat, electro, new wave and everything in-between.
Deaf Institute host Horse Meat Disco, bringing in 2018 with the best boogie crew in town, while the Warehouse Project sees the cream of the UK scene take over Store Street to see in the new year with a bang. Manchester’s co-operative arts and social space Partisan also invite you to their NYE special, with music from Chekov, Nick Kagame, acidhousedeathsquad and more…
The Castle Hotel open their doors (for free!) and will be having a bit of a booze and boogie with DJ’s Dorian Cox and Elise, dress to impress at The Bridgewater Hall, where they’ll be hosting a Vegas special to bring in 2018, or perhaps get your fancy dress out over at Rebellion where they’ll throwing an all-nighter.
