Rhode Island folk rockers Deer Tick are set to make an appearance in Manchester as part of their UK tour this year. After taking a backseat for four years the band plan to showcase the release of not one but two new albums, ‘Deer Tick Vol. 1’ and ‘Deer Tick Vol. 2’ ready to “prove that their punk-roots rock has only gotten better with age”. Both of the albums balance in genres; Vol.1 is dreamy psychedelic folk, accompanied with melancholy acoustics (a nod to the bands earlier and typical records) while Vol.2 takes more of a flip side, channeling through to the pits of rock n roll. The US quartet will visit The Deaf Institute February 1st.
Newport Folk Festival was the turning point that made the band want to start creating more music together, frontman and main songwriter John McCauley explained “it made me really want to do it––it made everyone want to do it.” Making a comeback after their last release ‘Negativity’ four years ago fans have grown restless and are more ready than ever to hear new material. ‘An Evening with Deer Tick’ will feature two sets highlighting both albums and should prove to be a real exclusive for newcomers and fans alike, whether folk, rock, or both is your thing.
Deer Tick perform at The Deaf Institute, Thursday 1st February 2018. Tickets Available here.
