Formed in 2014 by former members of Mancunian musical royalty The Fall, local post-punk outfit Brix & The Extricated are returning The Ruby Lounge following the release of debut album ‘Part 2’ last year. Initially playing tracks co-written during their time with Mark E Smith, Brix Smith Start and Steve Hanley have seen their latest material described by label Blang as “a sonic juggernaut, with a woman at the helm, infusing the hypnotic brutality with sunlight, harmony, hooks and riffs”. They last played the city centre venue just a couple of years ago, and will return on Friday 27th April.

Released last Autumn, ‘Part 2’ came a decade after Smith Start’s departure from The Fall in something of a chaotic manner, with Hanley following in her footsteps later. With their guitars apparently hung up for good, it was undoubtedly major news when they decided to start a band of their own. The new record sees the band lay their cards on the table, managing to demonstrate fun and freshness, the “sound of a real band playing the music they love“. Catch them at their best this month as they deliver another bright and noisey night at Manchester’s bespoke rock ‘n roll venue.

Brix & The Extricated perform at The Ruby Lounge on Friday 27th April 2018. Tickets are available here.
