Indie rock trio Lo Moon released their debut, eponymous album earlier this year, having built up a devoted following with killer singles such as ‘Loveless’ and ‘Thorns’. We spoke to singer and guitarist Matt Lowell ahead of their evening at Night & Day.

// Hello Lo Moon! How would you describe yourself, as a artist?

Hello! I would say there’s no doubt in our minds we are a band. We believe in the collaboration and the musical spirit that each of us has individually. When you put those together you get Lo Moon. It’s about that collaboration that makes us tick.

// Is there anything you’re working on we should know about?

We’re working on some new material.

// What music have you been listening to this week?

I have been really enjoying the new Amen Dunes album as we speak.

// Do you have any songs/artists that are your guilty pleasure?

Katy Perry’s “Firework” is a stone cold smash. Guilty about?? Probably not haha.

// What is your favourite song to perform?

We love playing Tried To Make You My Own and Loveless is always special.

// If you could master one instrument, what would it be?

I’m still trying to master guitar, piano, and my voice!

// What is the best purchase you ever made?

Probably my 1971 Gibson SG.

Lo Moon perform at the Night & Day Café on Saturday 19th May. Tickets are available here.
