Following the sad news that longstanding market street venue The Ruby Lounge is to close next year, we’re sure you’ll want to make the most of the venue. Revolutionary Egyptian rockers Cairokee are heading to the High Street venue this month, visiting Manchester on anticipated tour of the UK. The band have found a huge following throughout their own generation back home, combining anthemic calls for freedom, self-reflection and societal changes with a backdrop of catchy rock and atmospheric electronica with hints of pop and chaabi. The band’s acclaimed fifth studio album, ‘A Drop of White’ arrived last year, despite disapproval from Egypt’s Censorship of Artistic Works Department. Playing The Ruby Lounge on 31st October, tickets to catch a rare appearance on UK soil are just £13.75.

Formed in 2003, the alt-rock outfit are now seen as one of the most successful bands in their native Egypt, and have played a pivotal role in developing and pushing the boundaries of the alternative music scene in the country. Supported by the Arts Council England, their four-stop tour of the UK will feature support from celebrated Palestinian spoken word artists Rafeef Ziadah and Dana Dajani.

Cairokee perform at The Ruby Lounge on Wednesday 31st October. Tickets are available here.
