If you’re on the lookout for new music this month, or just wanting to stay in the loop with new releases, we’ve picked out five records hitting the shelves this month, followed up with supporting appearances across the city! Read on for some excellent and eclectic choices…

25th April // Josefin Ohrn and the Liberation @ Deaf Institute

// It’s easy for the term ‘psychedelia’ to get washed away in a sea of reverb and tape echo, but in the case of Stockholm’s Josefin Öhrn + The Liberation, their colourful, modern brand of it has helped them build a big name for themselves within the genre. Their third album ‘Sacred Dreams is scheduled for release on 26th April, just one day after their appearance in Manchester. Tickets for their show at Deaf are just £12.

9th May // Kiefer @ YES

// Kiefer’s soulful beats and laid back vibes has quickly found him fans and critical acclaim, as well as the attention of hip-hop stars Dr Dre and Anderson .Paak. Fresh from touring the US, Asia, Europe last summer, Kiefer returns to Manchester following the release of latest EP ‘Bridges’, released 5th April. Tickets are on sale now for £9.50.

23rd July // Gus Dapperton @ Academy 2

// In a popular sub genre like indie pop it’s easy to get lost in the crowd; it’s the edgier, more credible older brother of pop that everyone wants to get right. Gus Dapperton is one of those artists that really does. His American, nostalgic take on indie pop has earned him a cult following over here that has seen him selling out Academy 3 recently, now powering up to play Academy 2 this summer. His debut album ‘Where Polly People Go To Read’ is out on 19th April. Grab a ticket for his appearance in the city for £17.

31st October // Cassia @ Manchester Cathedral

// Macclesfield’s calypso-flavoured Cassia have quickly built a huge following in Manchester, now with one eyes on the charts following release of debut album ‘Replica’ on 5th April. Supporting the album, the band have announced a string of UK dates for this autumn, ending with a night at the majestic Cathedral on Halloween. Grab a ticket for £15.

19th November // Fontaines D.C. @ The Ritz

// In the space of just under 12 months, Fontaines D.C. have gone from selling out Night People last November, to an already sell out show at Gorilla this month, and now take things one step further with a return this November at The Ritz. The Dublin five-piece are back supporting their debut album ‘Dogrel’, released on 12th April 2019. Listen to latest single ‘Boys In The Better Land’ below! Debut album out this Friday.
