Saturday sees the latest instalment of the audiophile’s most treasured event; Record Store Day. Returning on 13th April, the day celebrates the UK’s independent record shops and the music industry surrounding them. Check out the full list of RSD19 releases here, or read on for our look into what’s on offer in the city this year.

Stevenson Square favourite Eastern Bloc will be teaming up with Reform Radio in partnership with Jägermeister, for their annual all-day vinyl party – STARTING AT 9AM. Always one to draw in the crowds from across the city, you can party the day away with 18 hours of back-to-back vinyl sets from some of Manchester’s best spinners.

Piccadilly Records (opening at 8am) have handpicked a selection of just over 300 of the best releases for the day. If that’s not enough to draw in the crowd, the Oldham Street favourite will also be hosting live music and DJ sets from Jane Weaver, Tim Burgess, The Orielles and others from 10am. Just around the corner, Common will be joining forces with Piccadilly Records to host a day-into-night bonanza of music, beer and food. Catch live music from local favourites Aldous RH, CURRENTMOODGIRL and Fruit Tones from 5pm, before Space Afrika and WH Lung take to the decks to soundtrack the evening. Show staff your Piccadilly Records receipts and get 10% off your drinks!

For those in South Manchester, audiophiles can look forward to the opening on new store Wilderness, on the site of the former Deco Records. Read our full preview of events here.

Back in the city, new spot Yerrrr Bar get into the swing of things from 4pm with a day of live music from The Sound Police, Bianca Alana, James Brierley, Danny Donnelly, Blaney, The C33s, and Moses along with DJ sets from Laura Beth and Paul ‘Ezi’ Eden. The new bar is located just two minutes from Piccadilly Station at Crusader Mill.

It’s always worth checking out the likes of Vinyl Resting Place on the third floor of Afflecks, Vinyl Revival just off Oldham Street, Hi-Tackle above the Hidden nightclub, Sifters Records in Burnage, Kingbee Records in Chorlton, and Clampdown Records on Paton Street, near Piccadilly. Whatever you’re up to, have a good one and dig deep!
