Don’t be fooled this April. Once again we’ve been sifting through the best musical listings in the city, picking out a selection of stellar shows you won’t want to miss out on. Read on for our guide to the next seven days in Manchester…

Monday 1st: ALMA @ Academy 2

// Scandinavian superstar-in-the-making ALMA starts us off this week, playing Academy 2. ALMA started her career by competing on the Finland version of Pop Idol, bowing out half way through the finals, but quickly finding her own cult following around Europe and the USA.

Tuesday 2nd: Cherry Glazerr @ Gorilla

Los Angeles trio Cherry Glazerr recently saw off the release of their fourth album ‘Stuffed & Ready’, via Secretly Canadian. Led by frontwoman Clementine Creevy, they have recently shared a taste of what to expect from the upcoming record with lead singles ‘Daddi’ and ‘Wasted Nun’. Supporting the release, the band have announced a short run around the UK which sees them visit Gorilla this Tuesday.

Wednesday 3rd: IDLES @ Albert Hall

// Bristol post-punk rock outfit IDLES hit the ground running with the release of their debut 2017 album ‘Brutalism’, receiving well-deserved critical acclaim in the process. Returning with new album ‘Joy As An Act Of Resistance’, don’t miss the riotous five-piece at the Albert Hall.

Thursday 4th: Nilüfer Yanya @ YES

// Singer-songwriter Nilüfer Yanya supports debut album ‘Miss Universe’ and offers her take on guitar-driven soul-pop at YES.

Friday 5th: Giorgio Moroder @ The Apollo // Cosmo Calling @ Band On The Wall // Zutekh presents Haai (All Night Long) @ Soup Kitchen

// Electro pop pioneer Giorgio Moroder will be celebrating his illustrious back-catalogue with a rare appearance in Manchester, at the Apollo. Scruff of the Neck bring Cosmo Calling to Band on the Wall and the Zutekh crew bring Haai to Soup Kitchen, spinning all night long.

Saturday 6th: Sundara Karma @ Victoria Warehouse // Amyl and the Sniffers @ Deaf Institute // Remake Remodel @ YES

// Rock quartet Sundara Karma visit Manchester on an extensive UK tour, offering adoring fans a chance to catch material from their second album ‘Ulfilas’ Alphabet’. Elsewhere, Melbourne-based punk four-piece Amyl and the Sniffers drop into Deaf, and you can catch the latest edition of indie disco Remake Remodel at YES.

Sunday 7th: James Blake @ Victoria Warehouse

// We end the week with Mercury Prize-winning musician James Blake, returning to Manchester to support new record ‘Assume Form’ with what promises to be a special night at Victoria Warehouse.
