Monday 3rd: The Legendary Shack Shakers @ Night & Day Cafe
// American rock’n’roll cohort The Legendary Shack Shakers start us off this week, bringing a mix of blues, country and Southern gothic to Night & Day. With nine successful studio albums, the band have no plans on stopping anytime soon.
Tuesday 4th: Snail Mail @ Gorilla
// The 19-year-old American singer-songwriter, also known as Lindsey Jordan, will be at Gorilla performing some pumped-up indie, rock-styled tunes. The talented musician, who is also known for her colourful guitar playing, has not long graduated from a school in the states and is already showing huge success in the industry as the solo project Snail Mail.
Wednesday 5th: Liz Phair @ Gorilla
// Manchester is hitting it off with the American’s this week as the second time Grammy nominee singer-songwriter Liz Phair, is also coming to town. After her latest release ‘Girly-Sound To Guyville: The 25th Anniversary Box Set ‘ last year, she is currently on tour to support the release. With her diverse sound, ranging from rock to indie to pop, her success continues to spiral upwards. After supporting the rock band, Smashing Pumpkins, back in 2016, who will be next?
Thursday 6th: Martha Reeves & The Vandellas @ YES
// The all-female American based vocal group achieved fame in the 1960s and are still hitting the stage over 50 years on! Manchester fans will be counting down the days until the Motown diva and her girls arrive at YES, ready to spread some joy with their passion for R&B and soul sounds.
Friday 7th: Megan McKenna @ Deaf Institute
// You may have seen her shouting a lot on your TV, whether it was ‘Ex On The Beach’ or ‘The Only Way Is Essex’, but Megan McKenna finished both TV series to launch her country-style music career back in 2017. In December of last year, she released her album ‘Story Of Me’ after releasing two songs from the album, ‘High Heeled Shoes’ and ‘Far Cry from Love’, which topped the iTunes charts. Let’s not forget that Simon Cowell rejected Megan at her X Factor audition years ago, but she still knocked Taylor Swift out of first place in the charts…
Saturday 8th: Yosi Horikawa @ Soup Kitchen
// All the way from Japan, Yosi Horikawa’s unique creative and style comes to Soup Kitchen, after his latest album release ‘Spaces’ from earlier this year. Yosi Horikwaka creates a special sort of sound, under the genre of dance, recording natural sounds to manipulate into his music.
Sunday 9th: Femi Kuti @ Band On The Wall
// To end the week, the Nigerian based singer comes from a strong family background of political campaigners, women’s rights activists and traditional aristocrats. Like his father and grandad, Femi fights for a free and fair Nigeria. With his funky upbeat sound, the crowd are sure going to be lively and on their feet at Band On The Wall.
