Festival season’s over, students are back, summer come and gone. It’s no bad thing, as Manchester’s musical calendar is in full flow across some of the busiest months of the year. Our latest flyer packs are brimming with some great events to look forward to, heading out across our hundreds of stockists across the city now. Here’s what you can look out for…
Local promoter Hey! Manchester host Sudanese-American musician Sinkane over at Band On The Wall this month. Alt-rock talent Francis Lung offers his latest instalment of homegrown indie at Soup Kitchen on October 26th, while She Drew The Gun drops into Academy 2 on October 30th.
O2 venue The Ritz have another couple of busy months ahead, and whilst we’re on Whitworth Street, there’s also the small matter of Ultimate Power’s Halloween extravaganza. Oldham Street stalwart The Night & Day Café has another month of excellent shows ahead, including visits from US singer-songwriter Frankie Cosmos, Glaswegian rock quartet The Dunts and Americana husband and wife duo Birds of Chicago.
This month DHP welcome such names as Chastity Belt over at YES, Pom Poko at the Deaf Institute and Chromatics at the Albert Hall. They’re also keeping one eye on 2020, with visits from Lana Del Rey at the Arena and Sleater Kinney at the Academy. We’re also shining a light on Brunswick Mill rehearsal rooms, offering 55 permanent monthly rental rehearsal spaces, and 5 fully equipped, 4 hour session practice rooms. Back in the Northern Quarter, Oldham Street second hand favourite Blue Rinse throw their Halloween Show and cosy venue The Whiskey Jar continue to host some great names on the international jazz scene for their weekly NQ Jazz nights, taking place every Monday.
