Sounds From The Other City, Bluedot and Parklife have all been recognised on the UK Festival Awards longlists after a stellar summer of events.
With a mix of metropolitan, park and field-based jaunts, it illustrates the abundance of creativity regularly showcased across the North West’s cities and region.
The metropolitan category features the ever-popular Dot To Dot Festival, which switched its Manchester location to the Northern Quarter this May. Manchester crops up several times, as BBQ foodie fest Grillstock, Castlefield Bowl’s Sounds of the City, Oldham Street spanning When In Manchester and this weekend’s Neighbourhood Festival are also longlisted, while due west there’s a nod to Liverpool Sound City.
Bluedot features multiple times across the board, as the Jodrell Bank-based festival of music and science appears in Best Family, Best Dance, Best New and Best Small Festival gong lists, as well as seeing Jean-Michel Jarre’s headlining performance in the awards hat. It’s even name-dropped in the hygiene-friendly Best Toilets category.
Others to look out for are Kendal Calling, Beat Herder and Y Not, which all take place within a short journey from Greater Manchester.
