Summer is nearly here and our bags are brimming with the latest gigs, festivals and events in Manchester. We’ve been listening to music from acts heading our way over the month, as well as some of our favourite new releases from national and local talent. This month’s playlist features George Clinton Parliament Funkadelic, grime MC Big Narstie, Amber Bain’s indie pop project The Japanese House and local artist Charlie Coxedge

DHP bring alt-rock icons The Afghan Whigs to the Manchester Cathedral on the 26th (read our preview here) having already hosted budding indie singer-songwriter Miya Folick. Hey! Manchester are keeping busy as usual, looking forward to Theme Park on 10th and The Besnard Lakes on the 25th.

The Deaf Institute will be helping bring the month to a fine close, hosting RnB duo THEY on the 26th and English multi-instrumentalist Marika Hackman on the 31st.
