Eccentric pop, sitar concertos, folktronica, pop royalty tributes, cult new wave acts, rising Urban stars, Nordic ambience, tropical disco, jazz pianists – eclecticism is the word this week! We’re looking ahead to seven days of music with something to suit everyone’s tastes. Read on for our pick of the best…

Monday 11th: Miles & Erica (Deaf Institute), Jasdeep Singh Degun (Bridgewater Hall)

// Wonder Stuff members Miles & Erica are back out on the road supporting their third studio album; expect new material coupled with stripped-backed versions of their classics. Bridgewater Hall host the latest in their ‘Music for the Mind & Soul‘ series, with classical Indian musicians Jasdeep Singh Degun on Sitar and Tabla maestro, Kousic Sen.

Tuesday 12th: A Night Of Amy (Gorilla), Kieran Hodgson: Maestro (The Stoller Hall)

// Gorilla host a night of tribute to the late Amy Winehouse on the week when she would have celebrated her 34th birthday. The four stop tour will see a full live band will performing songs from the legendary Frank & Back to Black albums. Elsewhere, Manchester’s latest venue, the purpose-built Stoller Hall invites Edinburgh Festival Fringe favourite Kieran Hodgson to its stage for his hit show ‘Maestro’.

Wednesday 13th: James Yuill (Castle Hotel)

// Folktronica figurehead James Yuill returns to the live circuit, touring with his latest release ‘A Change In State’, having previously played alongside Phoenix, Hot Chip, Royksopp and M83, to name a few.

Thursday 14th: Ryan Adams (The Apollo), Clap Your Hands Say Yeah (Gorilla), Spiral Stairs (Deaf Institute), Prima + Don Zulu + KSR + Katbrownsugar + DJ Konny Kon (Band On The Wall)

// Prolific American singer-songwriter Ryan Adams is back in the UK supporting his sixteenth album ‘Prisoner’, having recently tackled Taylor Swift’s ‘1989’, track-by-track. Inner City Waves invite you to their latest FREE night of music at Band On The Wall, showcasing some favourite local emerging urban artists. Elsewhere, standout indie troupe Clap Your Hands Say Yeah take to Gorilla and Pavement’s Spiral Stairs are on over at Deaf.

Friday 15th: Danny & The Champions Of The World + William The Conqueror (Soup Kitchen), The Strokes Disco (Band On The Wall), Clan Of Xymox (The Ruby Lounge), Ultimate Power (The Ritz)

// Power balladeers unite! The Ritz once again hosts a night of unparralled bangers, as Ultimate Power returns with “the world’s greatest club night“. Folk rock outfit Danny & The Champions Of The World come to Soup Kitchen and Band On The Wall host a special one-off Strokes (and relevant indie/NYC bangers) disco. The Ruby Lounge are also hosting a rare appearance from Dutch new-wave group Clan Of Xymox.

Saturday 16th: Sigur Rós (Apollo), Free Vibes: Cavana + Granfalloon + Gardenback + Itsnatevendahk (Band On The Wall) Discolypso (Band On The Wall)

// Icelandic ambient talismans Sigur Rós begin the first of a three-night residency at The Apollo, on their current world tour. A sign of new music on the horizon? Band On The Wall offer yet another FREE night of music championing emerging artists, this time courtesy of their Free Vibes series. Stick around afterwards for a boogie night of Latin, afrobeat, tropical and disco with Discolypso!

Sunday 17th: Sigur Rós (The Apollo) This Is The Kit (Gorilla), Joey Calderazzo Trio (Band On The Wall)

// Sigur Rós continue their residency at The Apollo, while This Is The Kit play Gorilla on the back of an incredible reception for their latest record, ‘Moonshine Freeze’. Head back to Band On The Wall to catch jazz pianist Joey Calderazzo and his trio end the week in style.
