Local four-piece Dantevilles are riding high on the release of debut eponymous EP, out on Mancunian label Heist or Hit. Possessing a sound “full of soul, melodic guitars and standout duel vocals”, they’ll be performing at Soup Kitchen on 1st June. We had a quick chat with the band ahead of their show.
How would you describe yourself?
As a band if we tasted like anything it’d be fresh orange juice with ice. We believe we have a distinct sound that no one else is doing at the moment, and that makes us stand out.
Do you have a favourite venue in Manchester?
Albert hall – not played it yet but it’s definitely on the list.
What music have you been listening to this week?
Obvious one is the Arctic Monkeys new album, but I’ve been really enjoying a tune called ‘Garden’ from an artist called C Duncan. It’s a bit folky with psychedelic elements, its got a quintessential English sound. Very cool.
If you could master one instrument, what would it be?
A tin flute – I’ve never been one for busking but if I could play the tin flute I feel I’d give it a craic.
If you could be an animal, what would you be?
I’d be a monkey – I enjoy winding people up (in a playful manner) and I feel like monkeys are the perfect example of that. I’d just swing around all day nicking fruit and that.
Dream band or artist to share a stage with?
I’d enjoy having a jam with Reni from the stone roses – his groove with my groove would be perfection.
Is there anything you’re working on we should know about?
We’re currently getting a EP together to follow up the ‘Debut’ that came out last week and gearing up to our massive headline show at soup kitchen on June 1st. But yeah new sounds are not too far away…
Dantevilles perform at Soup Kitchen on Friday 1st June. Tickets are available here.
